Ask The Tech--A/C Noise

Q: When my A/C is on I hear a clicking noise. What could that be?
A: It is normal for the A/C compressor to cycle on and off as you are running your air conditioning. It needs to build pressure to achieve the temperature you would like to maintain. If you hear it cycle on and off rapidly it could indicate that the system is undercharged. If that is the case, it will need to be serviced. If you continue to run the A/C for an extended period of time undercharged it can burn up the compressor.
