I started my shop because I wanted to help people. With every visit, we are checking the safety
items like brakes, tires, steering and suspension components, wipers and lights, to ultimately make sure you have the safest, most reliable vehicle possible. But I wanted to make sure that not only the vehicle is safe but the occupants as well.
You are transporting your family everyday and we want to make sure
everyone is safe and secure.
While working on your vehicles I see many with car
seats. Sometimes we need to remove them to
complete the repairs and at times we have noticed that some do not seem to be
in as securely as they should. It made
me really start to think about the safety of them.
Did you know that car related injuries are one of the
leading causes of death for children in the US.
You may also be surprised to learn that 3 out of 4 child safety seats
are installed incorrectly. This
statistic floored me. I am a dad of three kids, ranging in ages from 9 to
almost 1 and of course I want to keep them safe and I thought I was making the
best decision on car seats and installing them correctly. I found out I was not 100% accurate in that
belief. I know you are doing the best
for your children as well, but I wondered if there was a way I could help you
ensure their safety.
Because of these factors, I decided to become a certified
child safety seat technician. I enrolled
in the NHTSA class to learn proper installation. Additionally, we learned how to select the
correct seat based on your vehicle and your child's age, height and weight, as
well as how to instruct parents, grandparents and care givers to install the
car seats themselves. I take the time to
teach you because you don't want to have to come back to me every time you need
to move the car seat from one vehicle to another. It was a 30 hours course and it was very
intense, but it was well worth it.
For me, this was one of the best classes I could have taken
and I can now state that I am a Certified Child Safety Seat Technician. What
better way to continue to make sure that not only the vehicle is safe but also
the precious cargo that you are transporting.
